Project 365

Since finally getting my camera off Auto and figuring out how to shoot in full manual I've been determined to be constantly improving in my photography skills.
I've attempted a Project 365 (taking a picture a day for 365 days) before with the intention of documenting life but this time I am doing it to improve my skills and documenting life is just an added bonus. I gave up after about 5 days last time and so far I am at 14 days!
So here's the first two weeks of my Project 365!

[Pretty close to wordless] Wednesday

This is why I could never be a fashion blogger.... Feel like an idiot balancing the camera on the BBQ and taking multiple shots as fast as possible before a neighbour comes outside... AWKWARD... that and I have no fashion!

Christmas Questions

Playing along with Jess @ IROCKSOWHAT
and Sarah @ NurseLovesFarmer
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? White hot chocolate

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? There are people who don't wrap presents?!?! Wrapped.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? White. But we haven't put up lights. Not sure we will this year either. Yes we're those people!

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Sometime in December. I'm not usually a Christmas fanatic but this year I'm a little more excited for it. I bought some decorations last week.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Can't think of a particular one but here's a secret- I don't really like turkey.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Loud crazy Christmas dinners at my Aunts. Getting the brown paper bag filled with candy at the Christmas Eve service.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Fairly certain I never really believed in him.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Always just one. Usually was pjs, a calendar, or magazine.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? While growing up my mom went on this kick of white lights and colour coordinated decorations. I hated it and always wanted coloured lights and all the ornaments. Now I like white lights but just a mishmash of ornaments- no colour coordination here!

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I'm not snow's biggest fan but after ten years of living in a place with 5-6 months of it and having seen it snow in August we've come to a mutual understanding...
12. Can you ice skate? Yes.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Not really.  I used to get a season of Gilmore Girls every year so that was good.

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Family.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? What isn't my favourite holiday dessert???

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Opening a gift on Christmas Eve.

17. What tops your tree? A star. Fun fact: the only tree that fits in our house house is about a foot tall.

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? I think Christmas would be okay if there were no presents. Too many expectations. We refuse to go into debt over Christmas...

19. Candy Canes: Blue candy canes are my favourite!

20. Favorite Christmas show? A Christmas Story. Best ever.

21. Saddest Christmas Song? Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer???? Blue Christmas???

22. What is your favorite Christmas song? Away in a Manager. And that Alvin and the Chipmunks song.
First Christmas in our House (see the tiny tree!)
Now there is a shelf there so I have no clue where to put the tree!

First Christmas together, somehow these are the only picture I have...
Note to self: take pictures this year!

Ella's First Snow

We woke up to the white stuff this morning! This is probably the only time I've been excited about the first snow because its Ella's first snow EVER!
